Patch privacy policy
Last updated 26 August 2026
Patch is operated by Hotchn Enterprises (ABN 42 375 656 392). This policy explains the personal information used by the Patch planting website.
Information we collect
When you request a one-off emailed planting guide, we collect the name, email address, postcode, month and growing preference needed to prepare and deliver it. When you subscribe, we also collect your inferred suburb/state, broad climate zone, confirmation status and email delivery history. When you send feedback, we collect the details you enter, including your name, email, optional postcode and message.
Anonymous site statistics
Patch uses a first-party cookie containing a random visitor identifier to count page views, approximate unique visitors, guide-print button uses and successfully emailed guides. We store the page path and Sydney calendar date for these events. The identifier does not contain your name, email address, postcode or IP address, and Patch does not store IP addresses for site analytics.
Why we use it
We use one-off guide details to personalise and deliver the requested email. We do not add that address to the subscriber list unless the monthly-reminders box is selected and the subscription is confirmed. We use subscription information to personalise monthly planting emails, manage unsubscribes and maintain the private subscriber list. We use feedback information and anonymous statistics to read feedback, understand which pages are useful and improve the service. We do not sell subscriber information.
Location tools
If you choose “Use my current location”, your browser sends your coordinates once to OpenStreetMap’s geocoding service to find a postcode. Patch does not save those coordinates. Postcodes may be checked with Zippopotam.us to infer a locality.
Service providers
The site and database use OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure. Resend delivers planting guides, subscription messages, password-reset links and feedback emails. Google reCAPTCHA helps detect automated spam and Google AdSense may use cookies or similar technology to serve and measure advertising. These providers process information under their own privacy terms.
Choices and access
Every monthly email includes an unsubscribe link. You may also use the feedback form to request access, correction or deletion of your subscriber information. Patch keeps unsubscribed records where reasonably needed to honour the opt-out and prevent accidental resubscription.
Contact
Use the private feedback form to contact Patch about privacy. Your message is delivered to the Patch operator and is not published.
